I missed shows again. Surprise! I think that to get my shit together. There are a lot of shows that I want to see tonight. For example:
Friday, November 13th
Branx is having a show with Best Fwends (Ft. Worth/Austin), Totally Michael (Bloomington), Jaguar Love, Serious Business, and Holla & Oates. I don't really know what these other bands are about, but Jaguar Love is some of the members of the celebrated Blood Brothers who moved down hear from Seattle once the band broke up. The show is $8 and starts at 10 PM.
The Woods is having a show with John Heart Jackie, and Kele Goodwin. These are two wonderful folk acts. I saw John Heart Jackie once and it was nice. Especially Jennie Wayne, she is a talent to be reckoned with. Hoyt Emerson pointed out to me that she plays under her own name as well. Real good stuff. Kele Goodwin has always been a favorite of mine. He has a Nick Drake feel to him that is just beautiful. He has been recording an album over the past year with one of the guys from Mussee Mecanique. I can't wait to hear it. The show is $7 and starts at 9 PM.
Ella Street Social Club is having a show with Prairie, El Olio Wolof (Merced), and Monarques. Prairie is a indie rock band with the twang of a pedal steel. El Olio Wolof is is great band from almost nowhere California. There is a lot of cool accordion parts and such. Monarques sounds kinda like an updated (but not too updated) version of Grease. The show is $5 and starts at 9 PM.
Laughing Horse Books is having a show with Yeah Great Fine, Zoo Girl, and Duck, Little Brother, Duck!. These bands are all excellent mathy pop bands. I especially am fond of anything that Duck Little Brother, Duck! does. The ALL AGES show is FREE and starts at 7:30 PM.
The Michigan House is having a show with Palo Verde and Architeuthis. The after party is bible themed. Bible related costumes are encouraged. Just ask Goldie how cool Palo Verde is. They are fresh Metal, and improvised to boot. The ALL AGES show is FREE and starts at 8 PM.
If you see me at any of these shows, please say "Hi".
