Ben Meyercord's Live Music Picks for July 6th

Hello Dear Readers,

I have returned after a Tour and then a week of self imposed "vacation from blog" time. I have missed you. You have probably forgotten me. I was kinda mostly off the Internet last week and therefore missed a lot of music. Oh well, I went to shows anyway. Last Thursday I think Nurses sounded better than I have ever heard them before. I saw Ah Holly Fam'ly for the first time last night. It was pretty good. But My friend told me that they were missing tow members which pushes them from pretty good to really good (they were missing a female vocalist who helps make three part harmonies, and a cello player who makes things sound more pretty. Anyway these are some shows in the Portland Area for tonight.

Monday, July 6th

Rotture is having a show with White Fang, Extreme Animals (Pittsburgh/SanDiego?), DJ Yo-Yo Dieting and E*Rock. These bands are very hip. What's more is that I like them. Well White Fang and E*Rock anyway. I don't know the others so much. I think E*Rock might just be DJing. I hear he does that a lot these days. White Fang are really energetic live. Kinda hard not to like in a live setting, though I have seen some haters try. The show is $5 and starts at 9 PM.

Local Lounge is having a show with Black Heart Moon, Petoskey, and Turdeken Romance. This is a new venue. Portland needs another lounge. We have the Tonic, The Someday, The Camellia, and now the local. I really like Black Heart Moon. I think you might like it if you like those kinda sad and sweet songs that I like. I have seen Petoskey before and been impressed with their lead singers pretty unique voice. I could not find any dirt (or anything) on Turdeken. But I am sure that they put the Turd in Turdeken. The show is FREE and starts at 10 PM.

Valentine's is having a show with Rad Cloud (San Fran), Graves, and DJ Chris. I think this is a very good pairing, I feel that both Rad Cloud and Graves make kinda easy listening indie rock. Like in a good way though. The Show is FREE and starts at 9 PM.

So say hi, if you see me at any of these shows. Cause if you don't, I will be lonely.

-Ben

I am not sure if this this does the band justice. In fact, I am pretty sure it does not, but whatevs. See them at Rotture tonight.

this has little to do with your post cos obviously the 6th already is over but damn I'm glad you're back and doing your regular column again.
