Ben Meyercord's Live Music Picks for May 2nd and 3rd

Hello Dear Readers,

I am so tired. Last Night I played Seattle in Y La Bamba. I have to work in just a little bit, but here is what I suggest for the remainder of the weekend show -wise.

Saturday, 2nd

Together Gallery is having a show with Bob Corn, Comaneci (Italy), Ghost to Falco, and Hammer of Hathor. This sounds like a cool place. Apparently one of the new bands that made my must see list (because I haven't seen them before list), Lovers, played last night and I didn't mention it. Sorry, sometimes I am dumb. Anyways, Ghost to Falco is really awesome. This show is $5 and starts at 8 PM.

Artistery is having a show with Eternal Tapestry, Purple Rhinestone Eagle and Dragging an Ox Through Water. I love Dragging an ox Through Water. The band ain't bad either (ba dum ba tsss!) This show is $6 and starts at 8 PM.

The Waypost is having a show with Run On Sentence, Neal Morgan and Weaver. I have been meaning to see Runonsentence for a while. He is on that Hush label. The show is FREE and ALL AGES and starts at 8 PM.

Holocene is having a show with Starfucker, Deelay Ceelay, Mattress, Joe Von Appen, and Freaky Outy. I feel like I don't have to say much about this show. Starfucker you either love or hate by now (I am leaning towards love). So you are either going to this show or you are not. The show is $10 and starts at 9 PM.

Mississippi Pizza is having a show with Brothers Young, Grey Anne and Derreck Wayne. I cannot say it enough, I think Grey Anne is so good. He live shows are always cool o see go down. It is fun to see how her songs come together by her series on percussive, vocal, and of course, guitar looping. The show is Cheap (?) and starts at 6 PM.

Sunday, 3rd

Valentine's is having a show with Ages and Saw Whet. Becky from Ah Holly Fam'ly is essentially Saw Whet and I think it is just as (if not better than) her Holly Fam'ly cohorts. Come see for yourself. The show is FREE and starts after 9 PM.

Someday Lounge is having Willamette Weekly's Portland Makes Music series. Remember the Lounge Series at Town lounge? This is essentially that but at Someday Lounge instead. Tonight features Congratulations (ex-members of Eskimo and Sons)and Old Believers. I highly suggest you see this show as the Old Believers are bomb. Plus all of the Eskimo and Sons spin offs have been Bomb. Therefore, this will be a Bomb show. To make matters more Bomb, the show is FREE and starts at 9 PM.

So if you see me out at these show, please say 'Hi'. I would love to give you a high five.

-Ben

The Old Believers are playing for FREE on Sunday so, you can save your money and then you can have whatever you like.
