Question of the Week: Best of 2009

Sorry about not posting last week. I guess I could make the excuse that I was taking a holiday vacation, but I'm not sure, as I didn't actually travel or anything. Oh well.

It's the end of the year, and I'm obligated to pose a best of 2009 type question, so what was the best live show you saw this year?

No Go Know @ Ash St. Saloon last June. My first time at this venue, and loved it! I NGK know how to fill a room with such vibrance your ears ring for days! It was also the day Michael Jackson died so it was only appropriate to bump "Beat It" downtown as we rolled up. Long live No Go Know!!

House show with Oh Capatain My Captain, Meyercord, Y La Bamba, Sean Flinn, Typhoon, and Jared Mees & The Grown Children.

Admittedly I played in three of those bands, but honestly I think it was the most fun show I went to. Plus the other bands are some of my favorite bands in Portland.

I'm trying hard to think of the best shows I've seen in Portland this past year, but I didn't see much here. :(

Best was probably Soul Rebels at Les Bon Temps in NOLA.

I dunno if it's tacky to mention a show my own band played at but I rarely go out to shows anymore unless I'm playing, and New Century Schoolbook played with the Caps a few weeks ago and during the Caps' set everyone was dancing, it was totally amazing, especially for Portland. Plus I didn't have any idea what to expect from those guys, I just knew one of the members, and they were super great. There were probably other equally good shows but um, I'm old, my memory doesn't last long! Plus I know I didn't dance that much all year :).
