Ben Meyercord's Live Music Picks for August 23rd to August 27th

Hello Dear Readers,

I left town for the week. I am going to be back on Saturday. Just in time to play the Sean Flinn & The Royal We CD release show at Doug Fir. But I thought as a nice gesture, that I would do a few picks for the week like I used to do. Except I did not have time to write much about any of the bands. I suggest you click on all of the many many links I created. Here are the good local shows this week:

Monday August 23rd

Berbati's Pan is having a show with Oneida, Au, and The Lights. The show is $12 and starts at 9 PM.

Valentine's is having a show with Pigeons, Leather Tom & The Dirty Dudes, and Archers. The show is FREE and starts at 9 PM.

Kenton Club is having Lana Rebel and The Love Lazers. The show is FREE and starts at 8 PM.


Tuesday August 24th

East End is having a show with Truman's water and Astrology. The show is at 9 PM?

The Wail is having a show with Pete Swanson, The Slaves, and Gentle (Seattle). The ALL AGES show is $6 and starts at 7 PM.


Wednesday August 25th

Berbati's is having a show with The Morals. This is the last of a month long residency they a have been doing. It is FREE and starts at 9 PM.

Ella Street is having a show with New Century Schoolbook, Tiger House, and Grown Up Noise (Boston). The show is $5 and starts at 9 PM.

Holocene is having a show with Grouper, Iilyas Ahmed, Greg Davis, Daniel Menche, and Aures. The show is $7 and starts at 8:30 PM.


Thursday August 26th

The Artistery is having a show with Adrain Orange and Ali Baba. The ALL AGES show is $6 and starts at 7:30 PM.

Holocene is having a show with Nurses, Dragging An Ox Through Water, and Operative. The show is $8 and starts at 8:30 PM.


Friday August 27th

The Cleaners at The Ace Hotel is having Rock Out to Walk Out. It is to "Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Powell's Books union with a song and dance. Powell's employee bands perform old union songs at this fundraiser to put a little dough into the bookslingers' strike fund.". There will be music from The Shaky Hands, DJ Anjali, The Incredible Kid, Kate Ashley, The Bop Out to Walk Out Jazz Quartet, Michael Ford, Ay Claudia, General Strike, and The Middle Ages. The show is only $5 and lasts from 5 Pm to 2 AM.

Jade Lounge is having a show with Alameda. The show is at 8 PM.

Berbati's Pan is having a show with The Growlers (Costa Mesa), Shannon & The Clams (Oakland), Little Teeth, and And And And. The show is $10 and starts at 8 PM.

You will not see me at any of these shows, but say "Hi" to someone anyway.
