Ben Meyercord's Live Music Picks for Friday, December 3rd

Hello Dear Readers,

I got totally busy today. I know this is post unacceptably late in the day, but here are the shows very briefly described in case you see are looking for a show tonight.

Thursday, December 3rd

Holocene is having a show with Dat'r, Velella Velella, Head Shop Boys, and DJ Vision Quest. Dat'r is very very danceable with sick beats. They have not played in forever and will mostly play new material. The show is $5 and starts at 8:30 PM.

The Woods is having a show with Weinland and Garrett Pierce. Weinland make quality folk rock music. Think Elliott Smith meets Neil Young (or don't and just go see them). The show is $10 and starts at 9 PM.

Doug Fir is having a show with Tristeza, Strange Holiday, and Drew Andrews. Tristeza plays kinda post-rock music. I like it. It is not really loud post-rock like many bands coming out these days. The Guitar player of that band moved to Portland a while back and has started to play in her post-post-Beach Boys band, Strange Holiday. It sounds great. You really need to see this band they will be huge. The show is $12 and starts at 9 PM.

The Knife Shop is having a show with Gratitillium, St. Frankie Lee, and Porches. I love to see St. Frankie Lee live. They are a fun and good couple dual vocals (bitter and sweet) band with many members doing many things. The show is $4 and starts at 10 PM.

If you see me at any of these shows please say, "Hi". But you won' because I need to go to Hillsborro tonight to house sit. :(

-Ben
