I asked Ben Meyercord of the band Meyercord to write a little something about his upcoming show. This is what he had to say:
I am very excited to play this show on Thursday.
A while back I decided I was going to play a show with the band NIRE because a) I like their music and b) they live here in Portland just like me. In fact, I remember when I first found/bought their CD, I played a house show the following day with Tigersaw who happened to be staying with NIRE while they were in Portland. I thought that as a sign.
So I set up a show with NIRE. First I emailed them to say 'hey what a crazy coincidence I bought your CD and then I play a show with your friends crazy' (I did not ask why they didn't go to the house show and support their friends there by seeing me play 'casue that would have been awkward). They were nice enough to write back. NIRE took the time to listen to my music page (they left a positive comment on my myspace page it is probably still there if you want to find it, I don't delete unless it is spam).
Next, I went to their show and gave them my demo CD. Then I saw them at various shows. At that point I did what I call 'letting it simmer'. Next thing I know, six months after I set out to make it a reality, they ask me to play with them at Dunes this Thursday. There is even talk of Meyercord playing with the NIRE folks in Hood River sometime in December. But I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. I guess the point of this little schpeel is that I am excited about the show and you should go!

Dunes 1909 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
Doors are at 8pm. The music will start at 10-ish o' clock.

Could use some editing for commas, etc but I really like the interview.. also the little polls on the page. this is inspiring because I wish I was doing more cool, creative things. Also formattingwise if there was an easy way to put borders or something between the entries because I'm too silly to tell when they start and end, it took me several seconds to figure out where to leave a comment at.
I tried not to edit too much of what Ben was trying to say because he wrote it. but i will defiantly be asking the musicians to either proofread first or i will do it for them.... Yeah. I don't know about this blog layout. I'm glad you mentioned the comment thing. Adam had the same problem. GOD! I am so glad someone is telling me about these "little" things. Thank you Amber!
Content wise I hope you get a chance to bum around this here blog and see if there is anything and interests you.
Please also let me know if you are going to be playing any shows or if you have a friend you want to get the word out about!
silly ben! you should've just asked why we didn't go to the t-saw show....
the answer is that we played a show in olympia? no, seattle? somewhere with a drive the night before and went to bed at 5am! then went to work at 8am! so you see, if you had met me there you wouldn't have liked me at all--due to tiredness and grumpiness...
